On January 31, 2022, HUD published PIH Notice 2022-01 which states that all HCV and PBV units which have fuel-fired/burning appliances in the unit and/or an attached garage will now require a Carbon Monoxide (CO2) Detector to be installed in the unit. As HUD will start enforcing this new requirement on December 27, 2022. It is suggested that owners begin to prepare for this change right away.
